Astro Bot is a gorgeous and thrilling platforming adventure for all ages, and most of the experience is fairly easy. However, if you decide to go for its platinum trophy, you’ll need to put in a bit of extra work completing some difficult challenges and performing a handful of optional tasks.
I Didn’t Play Final Fantasy XVI ‘Right,’ And That’s OK
One of these optional tasks involves finding and catching a gold butterfly in the level Apes on the Loose to earn the “Net Profit” trophy. This Ape Escape-inspired romp is the first of multiple levels based on beloved PlayStation properties and serves as the final outing in the Gorilla Nebula galaxy. And luckily, finding the gold butterfly here isn’t too terribly difficult—if you know where to look.
Here’s where to find the gold butterfly in Apes on the Loose.
Where to find the gold butterfly in Apes on the Loose
Early in Apes on the Loose, you’ll find yourself equipped with a net to catch the various apes throughout the level. But you’ll also be using this net to capture the gold butterfly hidden in the stage as well.
Continue through the level and up a wall ramp to enter a large plaza with an Ape statue in the center that looks like the Statue of Liberty. Here, take a right and go all the way around the back side of the area until you find a lone bush next to a platform with a ladder. See the image below.

Use R2 to hit the bush with your net and spawn the gold butterfly. It will now fly rather quickly in circles around the plaza, so you’ll need to chase it while jumping and spamming R2 to catch it. You can also try cutting it off by going across the plaza and waiting for it to come by.
Once you catch the gold butterfly, you’ll earn the “Net Profit” trophy, which also puts you one step closer to the almighty platinum trophy. Keep at it, as there’s still a whole lot of Astro Bot to go!
